Burr lifespan varies depending on usage and the hardness of the steel, but as a general guide, home use burrs typically last between 500kg and 1000kg of coffee before performance begins to noticeably decline. Signs that burrs may need replacing include a loss of grind consistency, increased fines, slower grinding speed or a change in flavour clarity.
