The Femobook A4Z is a battery powered, single dose grinder engineered for filter brewing. Its 48 mm 1Zpresso ZP6 conical burrs minimise fines for bright, transparent cups, while a quiet low RPM motor helps to preserve aromatics.
The click precise dial makes repeatability easy, and the straight-down grind path helps keep retention low. The ZP6 is the same conical burr design used by Carlos Medina to win the 2023 World Brewers Cup, known for producing exceptionally low fines and a clean, layered cup profile. Femobook pairs it with a low RPM motor, an independent motor and burr shaft for grind stability, a 6000mAh replaceable battery module and full magnetic tool-free disassembly. The Femobook A4Z is a pour-over and filter specialist. The ZP6-derived 48mm conical burrs are optimised for filter brewing and will not grind fine enough for espresso, so this is not an all-rounder. What it does, it does exceptionally well: clean, high-clarity cups with pronounced sweetness and minimal dryness in the finish, particularly suited to washed Geishas, lighter roasts and natural or anaerobic processed coffees where clarity matters.
The Femobook A4Z offers over 300 click adjustment across three full rotations, with 100 clicks per rotation and 0.008mm (8 micron) of burr movement per click. This level of precision is more typically associated with high-end manual grinders and gives you very fine control when dialling in pour-over recipes. To find the zero point, turn the dial clockwise toward the smaller numbers until you feel resistance.
The Femobook A4Z runs on a 6000mAh replaceable battery module made up of three 18650 / 10C 2000mAh cells, delivering 30 to 60 grind sessions per full charge based on a 20g dose. For most home users that translates to roughly three weeks of daily brewing between charges. The grinder charges via USB-C, including from standard power banks, and the battery module can be swapped out as cells age rather than replacing the entire grinder.
The Femobook A4Z and A68 produce noticeably different cup profiles from the same beans. The A4Z, with its ZP6 conical burrs, leans toward clean, delicate, high-clarity brews and is the better choice for filter-only brewers, naturals, and lighter roasts where you want detail and definition. The A68, with its larger 68mm burr set, delivers more complexity and pronounced sweetness, and is the better all-rounder if you also want to brew espresso. The A4Z is filter only; the A68 is dual-use.
